You can use the code below to disable all
CHECK
and foreign key constraints for a specific table in SQL Server.Just replace
TableName
with the name of the applicable table.Below is an example where I do this and then check the result.
Aug 22, 2019 By being lazy and not explicitly specifying a potentially important setting, we give SQL Server permission to turn a blind eye to any issues with existing data. However, if the whole reason you needed to disable the constraint is to insert data that violates the constraint, then the default WITH NOCHECK is probably what you want. May 06, 2012 Is there a way to run a spell checker on a table in MS Sql Server 2005? I'm entering a lot of text directly into the table. It will then show up on a web page. Being able to spell check while I am in Microsoft Sql Server Management Studio would be a big help I need to spell check it before the database goes live. Sep 12, 2017 Where to disable 'check updates' in SSMS 2014. Post by oliver.ger » Tue 12 Sep 2017 09:40 Hello, we deployed dbForge SQL Complete by sccm and everything is fine. But at first start in Server SQL Management Studio 2014, I get a window with. Apr 03, 2019 To turn off Editor window in your Word application, we suggest that you click Check Document on the Review tab of your application. Make sure it isn’t grayed out because that means this feature will no longer appear when you're working on your document.
Example 1 – Review the Constraints
First, I’ll take a quick look at the current
CHECK
and foreign key constraints in the database, to see whether or not they are enabled or disabled.Result:
So there are currently four
CHECK
constraints in the database, three of which are for the ConstraintTest
table. We can see that all constraints are enabled because is_disabled is set to 0.
Example 2 – Disable the Constraints
Now I’ll disable all constraints for the
ConstraintTest
table:Example 3 – Check the Result
Now I run the same query from the first example to see the result.
Result:
As expected, all three constraints for the ConstraintTest table have been disabled (because the is_disabled column is set to 1 for those constraints).
Notice that the is_not_trusted column is also set to 1. This is an important consideration, especially if you intend to re-enable any of your disabled constraints.
See What You Should Know about WITH NOCHECK when Enabling a CHECK Constraint in SQL Server for information about how to restore trust when re-enabling your constraints. The information in that article also applies to foreign keys.
Disable the Constraints Individually
If you don’t want to disable all constraints in the table, you can disable them individually. See How to Disable a CHECK Constraint in SQL Server and How to Disable a Foreign Key in SQL Server.
Re-enable the Constraints
If you need to re-enable all constraints for a table, see How to Enable ALL CHECK and Foreign Key Constraints for a Table.
If you need to re-enable them individually, see How to Enable a CHECK Constraint in SQL Server and and How to Enable a Foreign Key in SQL Server.

Problem
Microsoft has recently released SQL Server to run on Linux servers. Onceinstalled, we may need to stop, start, enable or disable the services. In this tip we will see how to do it in Linux.
Solution
In the previous tip,Installing SQL Server vNext CTP1 on Red Hat Linux 7.2, we saw how to installSQL Server on Redhat Linux. Now let's explore how to perform operations for SQLServer services.
Check the status of SQL Server Services
Once we have SQL Server installed, we can check the service status using the belowcommand.
We can see the service status is Active (Running) that means the SQL Service is runningfine.
Stop the SQL Server Services
To stop the SQL Server services we need to run the below command.
Turn Off Spell Check Sql Server Instance Name
Once the services are stopped, we can check the status using the previous command.
We can now see that the service status has changed to Failed, since the SQLServer services are ina stopped status.
Start the SQL Server Services
To start SQL Server services we need to run the below command.
Now check the status of SQL services and we can see it is running again.
Turn Off Spell Check-in Yahoo Mail
Stop and Disable the SQL Server Services
To stop and disable the SQL Server services run the below commands.
Verify the status of SQL Server services.
Now the status of the service has changed to Disabled as highlighted above.
Enable and Start the SQL Server Services
To enable and start the SQL Server services run the below commands.
Again we can verify the status of SQL Server services.
